Under the terms of a contract signed with China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNPC),ÌýRollsÌýRoyceÌýwill replace the original analogue platforms of the neutron instrumentation systems at the two CPR-1000 units with its Spinline digital systems. The value of the contract has not beenÌýdisclosed.

The safety critical neutron instrumentation systemÌýallows for monitoring of instantaneous nuclear power, power fluctuations, and radial/axial power distribution in the reactor by measuring the reactor neutron flux. The same technology was installed in the two CPR-1000sÌýatÌýLing Ao Phase II (units 3 and 4).

Benoit Chabre, president of Rolls-Royce's instrumentation and control business, noted that the company's neutron instrumentation technology will be used in each of China's current and planned fleet of 22 CPR-1000 pressurized waterÌýreactors.
