Major components installed at final Barakah unit
The final reactor vessel and steam generators have been installed at the United Arab Emirates' Barakah nuclear power plant. Installation of the major components sees the fourth unit at the site pass 52% completion, while the overall project is now over 82% complete.

Barakah 2 completes cold testing
ColdÌýhydrostatic testing has been completed at unit 2 of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates.ÌýCold hydrostatic testing verifies that the welds, joints, pipes and components of the reactor coolant system and associated high-pressure systems meet the requirements set by the UAE's Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.

Fuel assemblies arrive at Barakah 1
The Emirates Nuclear Energy CorporationÌýhas taken delivery of fuel assemblies for unit 1 of the Barakah nuclear power plant under construction in western Abu Dhabi. The fuel assemblies are being stored until the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation approves the operating licence for units 1 and 2.

IAEA verifies UAE nuclear material inventory
International Atomic Energy Agency safeguards inspectors have verified the correctness and completeness of the United Arab Emirates' initial inventory of nuclear material. The strategic document was prepared by the country's Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.

Completed Barakah 1 awaits permission to load fuel

UAE poll shows growing support for nuclear
A national poll has shown that 83% of the residents of the United Arab Emirates "highly favour" ofÌýthe country's planned use of nuclear energy as part of its electricity generation mix. The UAE's Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, which commissioned market research company Kantar TNS to conduct the survey, said today the figure was an increase of 13% since the last poll conducted in 2013.

Barakah 3 sets pipe welding quality benchmark
Construction work at Barakah 3 in the United Arab Emirates has passed two milestones with the completion of reactor coolant loop pipe welding and the reactor containment building dome structure. The coolant loop work has set a new industry benchmark for quality in pipe welding.

Barakah 4 condenser installed
The final condenserÌýat the United Arab Emirates' Barakah nuclear power plant has been installed, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec) announced today. The condenser cools the steam produced in the reactor's steam generators back into water after it has been used to spin the plant's generator turbine.

First fuel licences for Barakah
The Barakah nuclear power plant has received licences to transport, handle and store nuclear fuel from the United Arab Emirates' Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR). The licences are a milestone towards the loading of fuel into the country's first nuclear power plant.

UAE unveils long-term energy strategy
The United Arab Emirates has unveiled plans to increase the contribution of "clean energy" in its total energy mix to 50% by 2050. The UAE's new energy strategy sees half of the country's energy coming from renewables and nuclear, with the remaining half coming from fossil fuels.

Construction milestones for Barakah 3 and 4
Construction of the third and fourth units at the United Arab Emirates' Barakah project has passed the half way point, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation has announced. Overall construction of the four-unit nuclear power plant is now around 75% complete.
